afterwood drum test.mp3

BadmanJ held me up tonight as I just have to work out some serious things musically. I was a bit out of the flow but Badman brought it. This is AfterWood with a drum beat. It sounds great.

internal_mixdown.mp3

My muse seems to be gone, but I am trying to still create. I play so you can hear me. I play so you will come back to me. Like a forest spirit or an Ent. I will continue.

Half step tuning.

tolerance_mixdown.mp3

Half step tuning as well.

Drone playing and prog rock.

question_mixdown.mp3

Drop tuning. All of these songs are. Half step down.

This song is a little odd.

We are gone for the weekend!

The Badman and I are going to be gone for the rest of the week and will not be able to update any information. I might send a post, but probably not. I will catch up with you when I get back and in the mean time enjoy some of the classic hits!

Peace, and thanks again for listening!

twistedver2_mixdown.mp3

If you want 80's hair metal!? You got it! Distortion galore and more break strum patterns than you can shake a stick at! This song has what you would call: Guitar Licks.

It was really fun to make. But it seems like the end sort of trails off into oblivion. Which is still fun.

It can also be used for spy tactics or intense scenes in movies. But only with my permission which you can get from me (with a valid and worthwhile project) at ehkoliteitunes at the mail server gmail.com

toTheSun_mixdown.mp3

To the Sun has a bit of a charm to it. A delay and reverb.

ancilary_mixdown.mp3

Ok now on to the music that are song like. This is something I put together a while ago, I do not remember much about it, but I have it all saved up in the noggin.

Finger picking and oddness. I like it a lot.

RandyRingtone_mixdown.mp3

Randy's ringtone took two takes. One was very alien and digital sounding, but then I wanted that to be different. But I think I might have to redo it again. As I might not have captured what I wanted to capture. But this is pretty and something you can hum along with it.

MilberethRingtone_mixdown.mp3

Here is for the Milly. He has the number and will call as we have a big trip planned this weekend. More on that later, but look forward to a bunch of songs this week, and then a complete lack of songs this weekend, but tons of Twitter feeds and videos.

This song is a tribute to the Sand'oria homeland with distortion! Rock out!

JamesRingtone_mixdown.mp3

Here is a rather non hip hop but still kind of hip hop ring tone I made for James. It has a bit of drone to it, but it is still sparky.

DaveRingtone_mixdown.mp3

Even though he never calls me and doesn't even know my new phone number yet, I made Dave a ringtone. Hello passive aggressive demand for more Dave time. This song is finger picking with an underlayer of more finger picking.

ShonaiRingtone_mixdown.mp3

Another in the ring tone experience. This one is chorus laden and mysterious.

CrystalRingtone_mixdown.mp3

This is the start of my ringtones I made for these people. First one is for Crystal when she calls.

All of these are songs I wrote just tonight while thinking about what these people sound like to me. They all have a little nuance to them.

And we are back!

Hey guys, it has been quite some time since we posted. We have been working on some good stuff. And I have been living like a rock star. So that sort of cut into my posting schedule. Don't worry we are back on track now. Even more we have a twitter account on which you can follow us. More on that later. Or you can search out the Ehkolite.

Ok, so the goal of the night: Post all the new songs. I will do just that and if I want to go back and fill in the description I will. I hardly remember the stuff I used, I have it documented however.

Gather round and take a listen and by the way: I love the song Twisted ver2. It is so 80's hair metal.

Catch you on the other side!

masses_mixdown.mp3

Welcome to the song called Masses. I wrote this song as a prog rock song. I enjoyed a specital in my mind and wrote the music based on the idea. It is two orbiting celestial masses existing too close and coming together. It is a song about gravity wells and the energy in them. The dance of particles and the raw power. I tried to capture what I was feeling in the song. I hope you like it. I use a vetta wah pedal at about 10:30 on the dial, the piezacoustic 2 amp, and spinal amp, and a cavernous reverb. Also the standard noise gate to get rid of the fuzz that is needless. I use break beating and strum breakdown to set on edge the tempo. I use bending on the guitar and pick sliding. All in all I love making this song. It speaks to me well.

masses drum test.mp3

Here is a version of the song Masses. BadmanJ put some drums to it and this is what it sounds like. In the next post I will explain what this song is about. And what I am doing.

cowboys_mixdown.mp3

I wrote this tonight and I like it a lot. I want to form it into a larger song so this is going on the 'Maybe' pile.

A little R&R

I took some time tonight to just read and be inspired by music and geniuses of the world. Frankly, I was just empty tonight in a wonderful but odd way. I wanted to write a song that was 9/8 mixed with 3/4 tonight. I got pretty far, but I was stunted by the recording glitching up a lot and the composition. I had a sound in my head, but the actual recording was not right, and if you did not know what I wanted yet you would be confused by the noises. So I am saving that piece for later until it is better.

I read a bunch of Wikipedia articles tonight too. I am glad to have had this night to work on getting refreshed. Not that my music is draining, but it is nice to take a moment to reset. It has been a heck of a run. From this James Beat 12 to Ghosts it has been quite a bunch of fun. I am very glad to have you all aboard listening.

The future goals for the band are to continue to gather the parts of us that are most sensitive to light and bring them out to examine in the form of music and to present the members of the band with an image that we can face as a real thing instead of a personal clock, ticking slowly down into a moment of depression or loss.

There are a few additions to the mix coming soon I hope. I am not committing them yet, but they are peeking over the horizon. Just over it, like jumping fish. Jumping fish catching damselflies.

If you have not heard we are currently searchable on iTunes. That is a lot of fun.

Enjoy your night!

freight_mixdown.mp3

This song has two guitar parts with delay and reverb.

Lyrics:

Life, and its worth are at odds with something creating life.
Illusions can bring you to the end of your rope
I want to suffer by your side
Can we qualify the ends with our excuses

Oh to lose you
Ill never know the reasons
Ooh to guess at your ends
We are left with the bags at your expense

Grow with the tides of unfirling flags
Can we pass the torch again?

The train you were waiting for left the taste of loss in the mouth of the caring.
The hearts of many left with you on that bullet
and the growth we could have had with the understanding of pain

Oh to lose you
Ill never know the reasons
Ooh to guess at your ends
We are left with the bags at your expense

Can we continue on with the memories
locked away in your parts scattered amongst the gravel?

Keep your hands close to your eyes
The spray of this visteral identity you wish us to see?
This vapor left in the lungs of the people you left.
Can the world continue on, the poorest of the world never see
the very moment you are a ghost I can greet you in dreams

Play with the water of life and play with the limits of our feelings
I could care less, I am not one of the feeling
We leave you in peace as you did not do this for us
and even if you did, we did not notice
We are all selfish and care more about our loss
than the feelings of pain because you can never see
the future we have for you

Ooooooooh to lose you in this landscape
ooooooooh to find you in our nightmares
you have become a nuenses and
we will never forgive you like you want
You could care less and
So could I

Oooooh to find you in pieces
Left for me to pick up your family
I will be part of your delusion and I will
join your party
Left to the flies
Ill never need a stitch

ooooooooh the proof is in your position.
Good evening
We have to end this show.

misunderstood_mixdown.mp3

I love this song! It is only a small small bit of it because I could not get myself to rerecord it. It is sooo complex for these little fingers. It is heavy metal, and break beating. Tredplate amp and Spinal amp. no delay and a little reverb. Remember this is a tiny snippet.

brainwash_mixdown.mp3

I was in need of something to work with and I went through some of the old beats BadmanJ made for me over the past four months and I picked one at random. Well actually I picked two and I tried to mesh them together but the other one was too finished sounding so I could not nicely fit this other beat into it. So I just started working on getting this to have a different feel than the original use. I think I did a good job being different. But overall it might not be a song we will keep but it was fun practice. I liked having a song laid out in front of me to start laying guitar over top. This one uses distortion and finger picking. I think it was the tredplate amp. Maybe a little reverb to flesh it out.

grapes_mixdown.mp3

Here is a song in the vein of the other fruit song. They make me think of people and the fruit name is to mask who they are. This is just a snippet of music. But I thought it was fun. I used no metronome in it and you can tell if you listen. Plus I have NO idea what the BPM is. I will be working that out because I like this song.

This is a lot of finger picking done in a very difficult way for me to fingerpick. It was tons of fun to write.

Novacain_mixdown.mp3

Here is a recreated version of the song posted last but with lyrics that have been sketched out. The song will take a grander form in the future with a similar change structure, but with a better composition. I like it! BadmanJ really did an amazing job with the drums, they sound live.

NewJamesBeat2x_mixdown.mp3

This song was for a beat that BadmanJ made. I took it and I made two different full songs to it. This is the second version. It has a bunch of things on it. From a 632ms delay to a square chorus pedal, and a Vetta Wah pedal. A little bit of reverb, and a Treadplate amp for that oh so metal sound. The song is 95 bpm. I will be posting the other version of this tomorrow and then I am going to ask for which you guys liked more. Just as a fun little game. I might even write a third one on the same beat because I like it so much. Enjoy!

YoureTheBest_mixdown.mp3

Did this tonight in about a few seconds. I had been working on a lot of stuff, but nothing was ready yet for me to finish and post, so I made this really quickly.

Music?!

Not tonight! I was working on other things, and then when I started working on some music things sort of did not come together like they should have, so I have two songs, that are pretty poorly made that I felt uncomfortable putting in the juke box or on the flash player. But if you want to still listen to them, I will post them on here in link form.

For the future we are working on big things here at the Ehk'olite. Look forward to them. In the mean time, enjoy what we have up on the site already and thank you again for checking us out!

Peace!

Poor music links begin here:

complex_mixdown.mp3

This song was built off the song. I tried to make my fingers move as much as possible. I wanted to make a song that was hard to reproduce. The BadmanJ is working on free styling over it currently. It has been a bunch of takes so far. It keeps glitching. He keeps telling me over and over "this is the last take", I do not believe him. But maybe this one is the last one. We will see.

Overall this has a smooth flavor to it. It was done with the same guitar pedals as the previous track called Affectionate2x.

Here is the .ogg file because it sounds better (Complex). Take a listen in case you cannot play the .ogg file here is the VLC player link. It is a great program if you do not already have it.

Affectionate2x.mp3

This song is a wild departure from the norm and brings an element of fun into a normally good but slow rhythm. I enjoyed making it, and I enjoyed even more making it!

It was done in riffworks and then the Badman put a sweet beat on it.

Monday, March 8, 2010

danty_mixdown.mp3

This has distortion and an epic feel (see: Prog Rockish). I wanted the Badman to freestyle over this, but he opted out. Instead he wrote a story, which is cool, but left me to free style over it. So I tried, and forgot to actually do it. So here it is naked like a newborn. I like it.

appreciation.mp3

Riff works, delay, reverb loop. Enjoy!

Sunday, March 7, 2010

trepitation2x

This was done in Riffworks. Slight reverb. Some delay at 100bpm, but the song is 75 bpm.

pour_mixdownsecondDraft.mp3

Here is a second version of Pour. It has lyrics.

Dusk_mixdown.mp3

I like the way this sounds. I do not change up the music very much from the beginning to end, but it is just a snippet of some guitar riffs I liked a lot.

Jester_mixdown.mp3

SUPER ROUGH DRAFT MUSICALLY!!! BE AWARE!!! WRITTEN TONIGHT IN A FEW MINUTES!!! EAT MORE FRUIT!!!

In the field, we find your soul
Torn and shattered, like the fish in a bowl
Slowly, slowly falling to the floor before your eyes.

The vapor of the water brushes past your control
under your lids and down your face
We all function with this practice

I am one to pick up your hair
I am one to saturate the skin with oils
I am the one to piece you back into a form
One worth seeing

Empty and controlled, a husk brought to life
Where do you look to find your home
I am reasonable but your place is not here.
You lay shattered to pieces
We all point and laugh to your lifeless remains
Empty your pain into shame
We wont touch you

I am one to pick up your hair
I am one to saturate the skin with oils
I am the one to piece you back into a form
One worth seeing

Seething, and remorseful.
Your alarm bells should be ringing
We only hear the dull thud
You wrapped it all in clothes ripped from your shoulders

I am one to pick up your hair
I am one to saturate the skin with oils
I am the one to piece you back into a form
One worth seeing

I am the jester and you are the prat fall
I am the laughter and you are desolving
With the teems of voices screaming for more thru blinding tears
I am staring you down and I will be the one to piece you back together
I will be the one to set you on fire.

I will be the one to set you on fire.
To set you on fire to watch you burn.

We were working on Pour. Remember that song? We are putting more of it together tomorrow. Here is a taste.

Formula_mixdown2.mp3

This was just a thought tonight. It was a little bit of practice for moving my arm more quickly. I think BadmanJ really liked it and wants to work it into a song. It is distortion and clean guitar. The one part of it has an 800ms delay on it and medium hall reverb. I tried to make a bass line in it. I need a bass guitar in this band. So much of the song I know it missing that brightly deep voice in the back.

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

nightofgain_mixdown2.mp3

I quickly wrote this up with a fragment of a song I played with tonight while practicing different things on the guitar. I enjoyed making it a lot. It has a bilevel effect package on it. With a pleaza amp and delay of 800ms and a reverb. Enjoy!

I think there is a glitch in it but I was unaware while I was working the music. So if there is I apologize, but it has gotten quite late to correct it. I think it still sounds fun!

emaciated.mp3

This was done in Riffworks, but I loved the music so I wanted to share it.

HisHands_mixdown.mp3

Due to popular demand, I present to you this song called His Hands. It is not nearly finished and in its severe fledgling state. I accidentally lost the stomp box set up I had before I saved it. So I have no idea how it is made. But I will be redoing this as I like it. It is considered "Drone metal" I think. It is 65 bpm, but the end it jumps to 130. I think it is fun. A little repeatitive in the beginning because I did not mean for it to be that long of beginning, but this was just a test, but it found a number of gladdened people. So here you go. I like it, I know you will to if you are forgiving.
